moving this topic forward
so as it doesn't get lost in the shuffle
Thank you very much for bumping the topic. The Pac Mate works without exception, the main reason I am selling it is first, because I don't use it now that I'm in law school, and secondly I want someone else to get as much use out of it as I did. I hope someone who needs or wants one will talk to me and we can reach an agreement.
How much would you charge for the braille display alone?
Well, how about $800.00 for the Braille display, and $400.00 for the Pac Mate unit alone.
Sounds fair that is an 80 20 split of the $1200.00 that I am asking for the whole package.
I've bought this product. I can't wait to get it. The Braille display is a dream come true, and the Packmate will be fun to play with, and perhaps I'll get some good use out of it. I'm pretty proficient with a laptop, so going back to braille input will be interesting.
Thanks Rob.
I just got the package about 5 minutes ago. I haven't had time to check it all out, but everything looks good. The pac Mate did talk. I'm getting ready to hook up the display now. Oh god! i'm so tickled I don't know whether to shit or go blind. I've never had a Braille display before. For some reason, I thought that the pac Mate's keyboard would be Perkins style, so I didn't figure I'd use it all that much, but it's a regular qwerty keyboard, and the unit by itself is pretty small, so yep, I'll find uses for it, for sure. Thanks again, Rob.
There are actually options, if I'm not mistaken. You can either opt for a perkins style keyboard or a qwerty keyboard. The qwerty would probably have the smallest learning curve for a computer user.
I personally prefer the Perkins style keyboard, but that's just me. I think that's probbly because the keys on the qwerty keyboard are very small, a little smaller than those on a computer. I could get used to it, but if asked, I always opt for the Perkins keyboard.
They're about the same size as my laptop's keyboard. I've been fiddling with this thing all afternoon. I was mainly in it for the Braille display, but now that I have the Pac Mate, I think i'll be able to use it. I got it on the net. Now I just need to figure out how to check my email. I think I'm braindead for tonight. LOL.
I am very happy you will get some use out of it. It traveled around washington DC with me and has seen the inside of the situation room. Good luck, now how much should I ask for my mobile speak/mobile geo? hmmm I wonder...
It situates itself quite nicely in my own room as well. haha.
